Starbucks expands delivery services to 6 more cities

Starbucks is expanding delivery services via Uber Eats to six additional cities.

The expansion begins Tuesday in San Francisco and will then roll out to stores in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C., in the “coming” weeks. This follows initial tests in Miami, which began in fall 2018. Starbucks also plans to test the service in London soon.

In Miami, Starbucks says the service saw “strong demand” and repeat business through the day.

“We know we have untapped customer demand for Starbucks Delivers in the U.S., and starting today, we’re expanding our best-in-class experience to our customers both in and out of our stores,” Roz Brewer, the group president and chief operating officer for Starbucks, said in a statement. “We’re building on key learnings from past delivery pilots and by integrating our ordering technology directly with Uber Eats, we’ve unlocked the ability to bring Starbucks to customers for those times when they’re not able to come to us.”

Consumers looking for Starbucks Delivers need to download the Uber Eats app first and look for the Starbucks offerings. The company says 95% of its menu items are available for delivery; a $2.49 delivery fee is tacked on to each order. Uber promises delivery in 30 minutes or less.
