State pension UK: When will I get my state pension? Why payment could be early this month

The state pension payment amount is displayed on a per weekly basis. Whether you get the maximum payment depends on a number of factors. As such, it’s worth visiting the gov.uk website in order to use the calculator. Once you’ve claimed the state pension, the payment is made in arrears, every four weeks.

It is paid into an account of your choice.

If you’re eligible for the new state pension, it should be made within five weeks of reaching state pension age.

For those on the basic state pension, it should be made at the end of the first full week after you reach state pension age.

The day that your state pension is paid will depend on your National Insurance number.

If the last two digits are between 00 and 19, you will be paid on a Monday.

Should the final two numbers be between 20 and 39, the day will instead be a Tuesday.

This goes on in increments until Friday, when those with final two digits ranging from 80 to 99 will be paid.

This year, Monday – May 27, 2019 – is a Bank Holiday in the UK.

As a result, people who are due to be paid on Monday will not receive the payment on that date.

Instead, the funds should be transferred on the first working day prior to this – which is Friday, May 24.

A Department for Work and Pensions spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “We know how important these payments can be.

“To avoid people having to wait any extra time for their benefit or pension payments over the Spring bank holiday, we are paying people early.

“If a payment date is on a bank holiday or weekend, customers will be paid on the last working day before the bank holiday or weekend.”

Other benefits payments will also change for the late May Bank Holiday.

This includes pension credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance, and Disability Living Allowance – as well as Universal Credit.

The UK payment dates for the Spring Bank Holiday have been revealed.
