STEM Week to encourage more students to pursue science, technology

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Greenfield Community College kicked off Massachusetts STEM week Monday night.

Franklin County resident, former astronaut and chemist Cady Coleman spoke at the event that encouraged students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Now retired from NASA and the U.S. Air Force, Coleman works with GCC to get students interested in STEM career opportunities.

“And I end up in my line of work, I’m always running into people doing interesting, educational experiments-you know trying new things,” Coleman told 22News. “And I get to bring those back to GCC, and we try them together in a place that we really care about.”

STEM week is a state-wide push for students to explore the sciences.
