I, like most normal people, consider Memorial Day to be the official start of summer, even though it technically doesn’t switch over until June 21 this year. The weather is finally warm and there are so many things to look forward in June to like vacations, Father’s Day, summer barbecues, and, of course, National Donut Day. Summer is the time to relax and enjoy yourself, and for some of us, that means more shopping and indulging in the whims and wants that have been sitting in your cart for months.

But thankfully, you don’t have to worry about going broke just to treat yourself. There are plenty of sales that happen each and every June and plenty of items we know will get discounted throughout the month. How do we know this? Well while our coworkers are testing products to find what’s worth your attention, my team of online shopping experts tracks sales and price drops across all the top retailers every day all year long so we know not just what goes on sale, but when.

Looking back on sales that have previously happened in June, we were able to determine the 10 best things to buy this month to help keep your budget intact this summer.

1. Sporting goods and camping gear

Father’s Day means we typically see an uptick in sales for traditionally masculine things like sports equipment and camping and hiking gear. But even if you aren’t shopping for that holiday, it doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of these sales and save on these items too. Retailers like Dick’s Sporting Goods, L.L.Bean, and Bass Pro Shops tend to have up to 50% off on golf, fishing, and camping items for the outdoorsmen in your life (or for yourself). You’ll also find discounts on fitness trackers like Fitbits with Father’s Day.

2. Power tools and lawn care products

The Father’s Day deals don’t just stop at outdoors equipment. You can also often find incredible sales and discounts handyman and lawn care products. Home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s almost always running Father’s Day sales on power tools and lawn care items, so you can save on these products for Dad or yourself, which is extra perfect if you plan on doing any summer DIY projects.

3. Grilling accessories

While June might not be the best time to buy a grill (these sales tend to happen earlier in spring and in the fall), it’s still a great chance to save on grilling accessories like meat thermometers, tongs, and spatulas. Thermoworks, which makes some of the best meat thermometers in the game, will be having sales for both summer grilling and Father’s Day. You’ll also be able to find sales on grilling essentials at home improvement stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s.

4. Lingerie

June doesn’t only have sales on traditional “men’s” stuff, it’s also a great month to buy lingerie and swimwear—and it’s not just because you feel like dressing up your summer bod. Victoria’s Secret hosts their Semi-Annual Sale in early June, making it one of the best times to shop for bras, undies, and bathing suits. Case in point: you can find bras for as little as $10 or panties for under $5.

Other intimate apparel retailers like Soma and Frederick’s of Hollywood will be hosting their own semi-annual sales on lingerie to compete with the massive lingerie retailer. So, you’ll have a few options to chose from to save on some new goods.

5. Movie tickets

During summer vacation, you need to find a way to entertain your kids with all this newfound free time. A matinee or evening show at the movies is a great activity and the air-conditioned theaters are a bonus too. Various movie theaters will offer discounted tickets starting in June and continuing throughout the summer, so it won’t cost too much to send your kids to catch the latest animated or family-friendly flick.

  • AMC Theatres: Every Wednesday during the summer, you can catch a kid-friendly movie and get a KidsPack from the concession stand, all for just $4 at participating AMC Theaters. Each week will feature a different film, but you can expect popular kid titles like Trolls, Peter Rabbit, and Wonder Park.
  • Cinemark Theatres: For 10 weeks starting May 27 to September 8, you can get tickets for a family-friendly movie for just $1 per person, per movie. You can save even more with a $5 pass to see all 10 movies.
  • Regal Theatres: During Regal Theaters Summer Movie Express series, you can get tickets for just $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for family-friendly flicks like Shrek, Despicable Me, and Kung Fu Panda.

6. Cookware

With the dawn of summer wedding season and many recent graduates looking to stock up on new kitchen items to start their adult lives, we can expect a few deals on cookware. For example, there will be a VIP Factory Seconds Sale on All-Clad cookware from June 12 to June 14. Dishware will also be discounted in the wake of wedding season and you can find sales throughout June at retailers like Sur la Table and Williams Sonoma.

7. Seasonal Produce

If you’re smart and shop seasonally with your produce, then you can save a ton on your grocery bill each month. Because this food is at the peak of its supply, it costs less for farmers and distribution companies to harvest and deliver to grocery stores, meaning you save money too. June might have some of the best seasonal fruits and vegetables, including apricots, blueberries, cantaloupe, cherries, corn, kiwi, lettuce, mangoes, peaches, strawberries, swiss chard, watermelon, and zucchini. So you can add these items to your cart and feel better for your wallet.

8. Gym Memberships

With everyone hitting the pavement and exercising outside, gyms are trying harder than ever to meet their membership quota. Luckily for you, that means you can probably find membership discounts and special promotions at your local gym. But it’s best to wait till the end of June to get the best deals, as that’s when quota stakes are high and the discounts are the lowest. If you miss this opportunity to sign up for less, don’t worry, as sales tend to spike again toward the end of the year when people are starting to make their New Year’s resolutions.

9. Skincare and sunscreen

It’s getting really hot out there, and while it’s important to protect yourself with sunscreen during the summer months, this is also a great time of year to treat your skin to some great new lotions and body care products thanks to the big semi-annual sale happening at Bath & Body Works on Monday, June 10 with up to 75% off select products. You’ll also be able to save on high-end sunscreen with an SPF sale at Dermstore later in the month.

10. Pride

June is Pride month, which makes it the perfect opportunity to show your love for the LGBTQIA+ community—and many of your favorite retailers are doing so too. While there are plenty of Pride celebrations and rallies being hosted all over, another good way to show your support is by shopping at retailers like Ugg, Converse, and MAC that are specifically giving this month to nonprofits, such as GLAAD, The Trevor Project, and the It Gets Better Foundation, which are all about love, equality, and diversity. Even better, some of these stores will have exclusive Pride-themed merchandize and may be running discounts.

Bonus: Free donuts on National Donut Day

Okay, I’ll be honest this isn’t necessarily a way to save, but if you like free donuts (who doesn’t?), then you’re going to want to mark your calendars for National Donut Day on Friday, June 7. Some places like Dunkin Donuts will require a purchase to get your free sugary treat, but not all of them. Duck Donuts, Fractured Prune, and Krispy Kreme are some of the popular spots that will typically give away free donuts to everyone just to celebrate this very important holiday.
