The London commuter spot with homes half the price of Wandsworth

Young Londoners priced out the capital are heading for the commuter belt at a time when out-of-town developers are trimming prices and offering incentives.

More than 336,000 people left London last year, with those in their twenties and thirties forming the largest group, according to the Centre for London.

In general, house prices decline steadily as travel times to the capital increase, especially beyond home counties hotspots in Surrey, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.

Leapfrog these and you can find more distant areas with affordable property and efficient commuter links.
