Meet the MAP Velocity Program.
City of Melbourne has partnered with Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP) to help emerging music tech startups get a leg-up in the industry. Through MAP’s Velocity Program, budding music tech entrepreneurs will be given the platform to develop their concepts with the support of established founders in the technological space.
Across 15 weeks, the emerging startups will be given the space to roadtest their ideas, engaging with expert speakers, group activities while being exposed to success stories to help them paint a picture.
With the end goal of connecting the entrepreneurs with their first customers, the Velocity Program will help startups better understand the demands of their market while also providing insight into the quirks of launching a new business.
The part-time program will see early-stage founders participate in ten workshops across the 15 weeks. The Velocity Program usually costs $500 per founder but with City of Melbourne’s sponsorship, successful applicants will be able to engage in the program for free.
All eligible music startups will be considered by the City of Melbourne for a sponsored spot in the program. The initiative comes as part of City of Melbourne’s commitment to support, foster and promote the local music scene through their ongoing Melbourne Music Plan.
The Velocity Program has now supported over 170 founders in building 91 startup companies, generating over $6m in revenue and creating more than 200 jobs.
Still got some questions regarding the program? On Thursday July 16, MAP will host an ‘Ask Me Anything’ session online for anyone that needs more clarity before stepping into the adventure.
