Times Internet leads $8 million round in student housing startup OxfordCaps


BENGALURU: Student housing startup OxfordCaps has raised $8 million in a Series-A funding round led by Times Internet. OxfordCaps will use the money to fuel its growth plans, the company said. The funding round also saw participation from existing investors Kalaari Capital and Silicon Valley-based 500 Startups.

The company, founded by Annu Talreja and Priyanka Gera, provides technology-driven living experience to Gen-Z students in India and Singapore. The new capital will be used to expand into 10 cities. The startup is also investing on capabilities like Internet of Things and deep learning.

According to the company’s press statement, it has clocked 30X growth in less than a year and aims to grow its operations across cities like Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Dehradun, Indore, Jaipur, Pune, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.

OxfordCaps provides a custom designed and standardised student housing product with a fullstack model of services and amenities. The projects and services are standardised within Oxfordcaps’ brand services guidelines, providing a transparent, hasslefree and safe alternative to a market dominated by the unorganised paying guest segment.

The company operates via three sub-brands and caters to students across price segments including Oxfordcaps Premium Residences, Oxfordcaps Student Residences, and Oxfordcaps Dorms for the budget segment. It directly works with universities and colleges, both via on-campus and off-campus housing.

India’s residential rental market is pegged between $18 billion and $20 billion, according to industry estimates.
