Top Iranian general killed in airstrike; oil gains

The AP reports Iranian General Qassim Soleimani has been killed in an airstrike at Baghdad’s airport. Soleimani was head of Iran’s elite Quds Force.

Iran is blaming the U.S. for the strike, which also reportedly took out Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of Iran’s Popular Mobilization Forces.

Oil (NYSEARCA:USO) jumped more than $1 per barrel, now at $62.22.
