The biggest gainers of the session on the were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:), which rose 3.17% or 3.84 points to trade at 124.82 at the close. Ferguson Plc (LON:) added 2.87% or 154.00 points to end at 5514.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:) was up 1.99% or 100.00 points to 5124.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bunzl PLC (LON:), which lost 2.97% or 65.00 points to trade at 2125.00 in late trade. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:) declined 2.83% or 63.00 points to end at 2164.50 and British Land Company PLC (LON:) shed 2.40% or 14.00 points to 570.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1206 to 851 and 311 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.60 to $1288.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.29% or 0.18 to hit $61.88 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.60% or 0.42 to trade at $70.81 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.10% to 1.3027, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8626.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 97.060.
