Universal Credit: What you’ll need for an application – full list


The application process for Universal Credit appears to be very simple but there is support available should anyone need it.

There is a Universal Credit helpline that can be called if the claimant has any problems with the online features.

It is also possible to utilise the “Help to Claim” service.

This is a free and impartial service offered by Citizens Advice which can help with things like gathering evidence for an application.

It is important to note that a claim for Universal Credit will likely be needed even if the claimant believes they do not need to take any action.

Some people may have already claimed Universal Credit in the past. As such, they may believe that they could just restart their payments but this is unlikely to be the case. The government detail that if this is the case, a new claim will need to be made.
