An underlying measure of US whole sales prices was unexpectedly unchanged in November, signalling inflation remains subdued.
So-called core US producer prices, which strip out volatile components like food, energy and trade services, were unchanged on a monthly basis, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Thursday, missing economists’ expectations.
Meanwhile a measure that only excludes food and energy fell 0.2 per cent, against expectations for a 0.2 per cent increase.
Thursday’s report showed the overall producer price index was flat on a monthly basis in November and up 1.3 per cent year-on-year, undershooting economists’ expectations.
