A FERRARI formerly owned by Sir Elton John is expected to sell for £475,000 at auction.
The flashy supercar was reportedly bought with the proceeds of his legendary 1973 album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
The rare 365 GTB/4 Daytona is a certainty to get plenty of interest when it goes up for sale on September 21.
Following the success of the release, which reached number one in both the UK and America, Sir Elton lashed out and bought the Ferrari.
Although now known as a collector of luxury motors, the Daytona was his first Ferrari.
Still in original condition, the classic Italian vehicle is powered by a 4.4-litre V12 engine and only has 82,000 miles on the clock.
It is one of just 158 right-hand drive Daytonas ever made.
At the time of production, the Daytona was considered to be the world’s fastest road car, producing 352 horsepower.
Arwel Richards, a specialist with Silverstone Auctions, said: “We have sold a number of cars that have been owned by Sir Elton John, including a 2014 Bentley Continental GT Speed directly from his personal collection.
“He famously has a long affinity with Ferrari, having owned several range-topping V12 models over the years.
“It is believed this Daytona was his first Ferrari, buying it at the age of 26 in 1973 and keeping it until 1975, parked alongside his 1974 Ferrari 365 Berlinetta Boxer.
“The history file is exceptionally detailed and is a testament to the care of the previous owners in collating the car’s file as much as caring for the car’s condition for 47 years.”
It is not the first car out of the Rocket Man’s garage to go under the hammer.
In February last year, the singer’s 1997 Aston Martin Vantage was offered for £240,000 – twice the price of a new DB11.
And a sleek 2014 Bentley Continental was sold for just £80,000.
