Wanted: 11 tech start-ups for unique opportunity to attend Slush – Emerging Europe

An EU-funded project is offering promising tech start-ups and innovative SMEs in Central and Eastern Europe the chance to become better connected, gain higher market exposure and have improved, streamlined access to funding opportunities and talent.

My-Gateway targets start-ups across CEE, especially in the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovenia, and offers a range of services from capacity building to mentorship, all designed to make the journey of young companies to global stardom as smooth as possible.

Albania’s Pragmatic Analytics, the Czech Republic’s Foodgroot and Romania’s Paybilla are just three of the more than 75 CEE start-ups who have so far benefitted from My-Gateway’s know-how and support services.

Now, My-Gateway is looking for 11 more cutting-edge start-ups to take to Slush, the largest not-for-profit start-up and tech event in the Nordics, to be held in Helsinki, Finland, from November 21-22. Slush brings together 25,000 changemakers, including 4,000 startups and 2,000 investors in what is billed as the most founder-focused event anywhere in the world.

“Connecting CEE start-ups to the rest of Europe and showcasing their potential is one of My-Gateway’s project missions,” said Krisztina Toth, a My-Gateway coordinator. “By offering 11 top-notch start-ups the possibility to attend Slush, and offering them the possibility to benefit from side events and personalised guidance, we aim to boost entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe.”

The 11 successful start-ups will benefit from free tickets to Slush and will be able to join activities and side events specifically organised to harness their experience of the event.

“One way of achieving our mission is to give start-ups more visibility, offer them training courses on how to benefit from public and private funding and take an active part in prominent start-up events,” Toth told Emerging Europe. “This is why I encourage start-ups to apply to our Slush competition as they won’t just benefit from being at the event but will also receive personalised guidance and the possibility to attend the activities we organise.”

In order to be eligible, start-ups need to be at the late seed stage and located in Central and Eastern Europe, but priority will be given to the My-Gateway target countries of Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. The 11 winners will be decided by key players from the Romanian, Czech and Slovenian start-up ecosystem.

Eligible start-ups should apply here. The closing date for applications is July 31.
