What are the charges you need to pay for Aadhaar card update?


Updating your Aadhaar details will now cost more. As a circular issued by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) dated April 22, charges for updating your Aadhaar details such as address, mobile number, and biometrics have been revised upwards.

As per the circular, the new charges for updation of demographic details such as name, address, gender, email ID, mobile number will be Rs 50. Earlier it was Rs 25.

Similarly, updating biometric details such as photograph, fingerprints and iris scan will now cost Rs 50. The charges are inclusive of taxes.

Updating your address in your Aadhaar card on the UIDAI website and availing other services online will continue to be free of cost. The new charges will be applicable for the services availed by individuals at Aadhaar centres.

Do note that getting your Aadhaar card reprinted from the UIDAI’s website will continue to be chargeable. To get your Aadhaar card reprinted, you will have to pay Rs 50 which is inclusive of printing charges, speed post charges and GST. The payment can be made online via debit card, credit Card, Net banking and UPI.

If you are enrolling for Aadhaar for the first time, then you will not be required to pay any charges.

Mandatory update of biometric for children aged five years and 15 years will remain free of cost.
