Regular payments are given to pensioners after they reach a certain age, even if they continue to keep working.
The State Pension is usually paid every four weeks, unless the person is paid in arrears – meaning someone is paid for the last four weeks instead of the coming four weeks.
At the most, current pensioners can expect to receive £134.25 per week.
This is an increase under the triple lock mechanism, which sees the State Pension rise each year by whichever is the highest: average earnings, the rate of inflation or 2.5 percent.
