The Voice continues tonight (Saturday, January 19) on ITV with former Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am sitting as one of the judges. will.i.am’s salary when The Voice was on BBC One was £600,000 a season and some reports have put his ITV salary at over £2.5 million. ITV has not revealed how much The Voice judges are earning in 2019.
How much does will.i.am earn?
The last confirmed salary we have for will.i.am on The Voice is £600,000.
This six-figure payout was revealed as part of the BBC’s yearly release of its salaries in 2016.
This worked out as over £40,000 an episode for the judge, who has appeared on the show since 2012.
That year, which was the last that The Voice was on BBC, all four judges (will.i.am, Ricky Wilson, Boy George, Paloma Faith) were paid the same for the show.
will.i.am tweeted that he donated most of his salary for The Voice that year to charity The Prince’s Trust.
In April 2016, he tweeted: “I gave the majority of the money I made on the voice to the @PrincesTrust to build a tech program to get the kids from east LDN up to speed.”
Since this last disclosed salary, it is believed that the Black Eyed Peas frontman got a pay rise when the show moved from the BBC to ITV.
However, unlike the BBC, ITV is not required to reveal its salaries, so we don’t know how much they are paying will.i.am.
A spokesperson for The Voice said: “This information is confidential and not disclosed by ITV, the programme or its stars.”
Also in 2016, the Daily Star reported that will.i.am was offered £2.5 million to stay on the show.
This figure, however, remains unconfirmed and has not been commented on by will.i.am.
We also do not know how much will.i.am makes as a judge on The Voice Kids, which will.i.am appears as a judge on alongside McFly’s Danny Jones, Pixie Lott and, in the upcoming season three, former Voice judge Jessie J.
According to The Richest, will.i.am’s total net worth is $75 million (£57 million).
This includes not only his salary for The Voice and money made from his work in the Black Eyed Peas, and as a solo artist but also his various business profits.
For example, he is a founding shareholder of Beats Electronics, the makers of the Beats by Dre headphones.
In 2017, his tech startup I.am+ raised £89 million in funding and sells products like the Buttons brand of Bluetooth headphones and an artificial intelligence brand called Omega.
