Youth booked for harassing woman through internet – Times of India


Nashik: The cybercrime police has booked a person from Aurangabad on a complaint registered against him by a 23-year-old woman from the city.
According to the complainant, the suspect was harassing her by opening her fake Facebook and Instagram account, uploading her photos and videos with him and threatening to end his life if he did not entered into a relationship with him.
The cybercrime police have booked the concerned suspect under Section 354 D (stalking), Section 504 (intentional insult wiht intent to provoke breach of peace) of the IPC and other sections of the Information Technology Act.
The cybercrime police said that according to the complainant, she and the person harassing her were acquainted with one another for a long time during their college days.
During their acquaintance, he had clicked her photos and also filmed her videos.
However, later the suspect opened a fake Facebook account and Instagram account in the name of the complainant and started uploading her photos he had with her.
Later, he also started calling her up and threatened to kill himself if she did not entered into a relationship with him. With the constant torture from March till August this year, the woman eventually lodged a complaint against him with the cybercrime police station.
Senior police officials said that they would soon reach Aurangabad and arrest the suspect in the offence.
This year until June end, the cybercrime police have registered four offences of outraging modesty of women through the means of internet.
The police said that over the past few years they have spread massive awareness among school and college students sensitising them what amount to an offence. Many times, young people repeatedly send requests of friendship to girls despite their refusal, which could land them into trouble.
