AGiRepair to host Big Brothers Big Sisters tech and science camp – TribLIVE

Members of AGiRepair of Greensburg will be hosting a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) camp in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region.

From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, children involved in the program will be participating in different activities that align with each subject of STEAM at Legion Keener Park in Latrobe. Stations will include building bird houses and feeders, a drum circle and an owl presentation from Wildlife Works.

“The event has enough structure that it’s not boring and it has enough freedom that the kids can tap into their creativity,” said Gabrielle Stewart, 39, development and events coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Laurel Region.

AGiRepair, a device repair and buyback company in Greensburg, is a partner of the year for the communty support organization. It has hosted multiple events for the nonprofit including the 2022 holiday party and a career day for children in the Big Futures program.

“The AGiRepair staff has really embraced the mission and they just love planning stuff for the kids,” Stewart said.

Members of Big Brothers Big Sisters will be hosting informational sessions throughout the month for those interested in mentoring a child. Residents of Westmoreland and Fayette counties can attend a virtual session on July 31.
