Chatham Middle School announces the winners of its 2024 Science & Technology Fair held March 20 in the CMS gym and included entries from students in grades six through eight, with a winner being chosen from each grade. 6th Grade — Miles Schuster: Does outside temperature affect how well solar panels work? 7th Grade — Jack Galvin: What fruit or vegetable have the most energy? 8th Grade — Lucy Tassinari & Logan Van Wie: Which heat protectant is the best? Students developed a hypothesis or technical problem and then used either the Scientific Method or Problem Solving Method, respectively, to prove or disprove their theory or develop a solution to their problem. During the school day, Chatham’s high school and middle school science and technology faculty judged the entries, and classes dropped in to check out the projects. The fair was open to the public that evening and the winners were announced at the close of the event. Pictured from the left are Jack Galvin, Miles Schuster, Lucy Tassinari and Logan Van Wie.
