They’ve been there before: smart has been a pioneer in many fields, from design to technology. And they’re continuing to innovate with this new technology, developing unique products that set themselves apart from competitors. The future is bright for smart and EVs alike with the introduction of smart #1.

What is Special About this Car?

The first thing that strikes you about the new smart Fortwo electric drive is its size. It’s tiny. The electric car has the exact exterior dimensions as its gasoline counterpart, but with a wheelbase of just 2,400 mm (94.5 in), it feels even smaller than that.

It also comes with a single electric motor on the rear axle that produces 268 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque powered by a 66-kWh battery. On Europe’s WLTP test cycle, Smart claims a maximum speed of 112 mph and a range of between 260 and 273 miles. In addition, smart says the #1 can charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes or less using a DC super-fast charger.

The e-Mobility smart is based on the new version of the Smart Fortwo and has a range of up to 250 km on one charge. It also features some autonomous driving functions and can be used as a mobile office or living room. The batteries are charged inductively, so no cables or plugs are required.

Special Features

The smart EQ electric drive is the first car to feature a fast charging capacity. You can charge up to 80% in just 20 minutes, which is a huge time saver for those who frequently travel long distances.
The smart EQ also features an advanced battery pack and powertrain design, enhanced aerodynamics, and lightweight materials that help improve performance. It has an impressive range of up to 300 miles on a single charge! This vehicle has been designed conveniently (because nobody wants their commute to be more stressful than necessary). Two versions are available: urban and sport, and hybrid (allowing you to drive short distances with your gasoline engine before switching over).

The Inside of Cars

The exterior’s two-tone color scheme is continued inside with many brushed metal surfaces. The Smart #1 also comes with h ambient lighting and a glass roof. The digital gauge cluster has a sizable 12.8-inch infotainment screen and a 9.2-inch. There have been no price announcements for the #1, but it is anticipated to go on sale in China before it is available in Europe. 
Even though Smart sales in the US never really took off, we are curious to see how the #1 would fare in crossover-obsessed America, especially since the “Smart car” still has respectable brand recognition despite having left the market three years ago.

What Advantages Does It Have?

Here are some advantages of having this car.

You can go anywhere in this car. You don’t have to stop at the gas station or plug it in the wall when you get home. It has a range of 200 miles on a single charge, and it takes only a few hours to charge. So, you can take it with you wherever you go.

This car costs much less than a standard vehicle with an internal combustion engine (ICE). Even though electric cars are more expensive than ICE, gas prices rise daily. In addition, their fuel costs are much lower because they don’t rely on fossil fuels like gasoline or diesel but on electricity which is cheap and widely available these days.

  • Environmentally friendly

It’s easier on the environment. Additionally, because electric vehicles don’t use fossil fuels, they have a lower impact on global warming than gasoline-powered vehicles.

  • More space

Electric drivetrains provide more interior space because they don’t have a bulky combustion engine and transmission tunnel. This allows for larger batteries, which in turn give a greater range.

  • Speed

Electric vehicles are already quicker off the line than their petrol counterparts, with torque available at zero RPM. This gives them an advantage in acceleration, but it’s sometimes lower than you might expect because of the weight of the batteries.
As electric vehicles become more popular, it’s essential to consider their impact on the environment and their effectiveness in reducing pollution.
