DRIVERS have been told how they can save hundreds of pounds on removing scratches by using one simple household item.
The eye-opening revelation was revealed by a car expert in a video uploaded to social media.

In the 43-second clip, he reveals to another person how they can almost “wipe off” the scratches on their car using one easy trick.
The video begins with a driver reversing their car into a street sign, before jumping out to see the damage they’ve done to their vehicle.
After complaining that it will cost him “hundreds of dollars” to repair the car, the expert asks the driver whether he has any toothpaste.
Once the driver hands some over, the expert confirms that you can easily wipe off scratches after covering them in toothpaste.
The expert (@dashishuoche) said: “Toothpaste usually contains abrasives.
“On prime scratches, just put toothpaste on them and then wipe it back and forth with a rag.”
The car in the video is white so it isn’t clear if the same trick will work on different coloured cars, but it left some viewers shocked nonetheless.
One person commented: “What? toothpaste is so easy to use?”
The expert in the video then reveals that toothpaste also has other amazing effects for your vehicle.
As well as being able to remove scratches, the product can help to remove fog from windscreen mirrors and prevent condensation.
And if you have dirty windscreen wipers, applying some toothpaste can resolve this problem by making them clean.
