An engineer claims that Instagram could be getting its very own AI chatbot with multiple personalities to choose from.

While most big tech companies have wasted no time in rolling out AI features on popular apps like Spotify, Slack, Zoom etc., we’ve had no such announcement from Instagram.

This week, mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi claims to have discovered a ‘Chat with an AI’ feature on Instagram, similar to the viral chatbot ChatGPT.

‘Instagram is working on bringing AI Agents (Bots) to your chats for a more fun and engaging experience,’ Paluzzi said in a tweet sharing screenshots of what the alleged feature would look like.

‘AI Agents will be able to answer questions and give advice. You’ll be able to choose from 30 different personalities.’

It’s unclear if Meta is working on such a feature and the social media giant declined to comment on it.

However, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched that the company is working on AI feature like many other social media platforms.

This year, Snapchat launched its own AI chatbot powered by ChatGPT and Spotify released its AI DJ feature for music recommendations.

For now, we only know that Instagram’s AI is making you spend more time watching Reels, according to Mark Zuckerberg.

In April, the American tech giant said that its AI work powers its recommendations and ranking infrastructure that powers all of its products, from feeds, Reels and ads.

The company also said that it was working on new generative AI models that are enabling an ‘entirely new classes of products and experiences’. So, we’ll have to wait to find out what they are.
