RBI announces portfolios for deputy governors


Mumbai: Following the appointment of Swaminathan Janakiraman as deputy governor, the Reserve Bank of India on Monday announced the portfolios for the central bank’s four deputy governors with immediate effect.

Janakiraman will look after the departments of consumer education and protection, supervision, financial inclusion and development, inspection, premises, and Rajbhasha.

Deputy governor Michael Patra will handle the departments of monetary policy, financial markets regulation, financial markets operations, deposit and credit guarantee corporation, and economic and policy research, amongst others.

Deputy governor M Rajeshwar Rao will look after the departments of regulation, communication, enforcement, legal, and risk monitoring.

Deputy governor T Rabi Sankar is in charge of the central security cell, and the departments of currency management, foreign exchange, internal debt management, payment and settlement systems, external investments and operations, and government and bank accounts, amongst others.
