Tips to cool down your room faster amid heatwave

Seal the leaks
An AC works by removing warm air from your room. Leaks around windows, doors, and vents allow warm air to seep back in, forcing the AC to work harder and take longer to cool the space. Identify and seal any leaks using caulk or weather stripping.

Pre-cool the room
If possible, shut the windows and blinds before turning on the AC. This prevents warm outside air from entering and makes it easier for the AC to cool the existing air. You can also use ceiling fans to circulate cool air that might be trapped in higher areas of the room.

Set it smart
Don’t blast the AC. A drastic temperature change is uncomfortable and inefficient. Setting the temperature 2-3 degrees lower than the desired temperature is ideal. The AC will cool the room quickly and then cycle off to maintain the cooler temperature.

Clean regularly
A dirty air filter restricts airflow and reduces the efficiency of the AC. Regularly clean or replace the air filter according to the manufacturer’s instructions. A clean filter allows for optimal cool air circulation.

Don't block vents
Don’t block vents with furniture or curtains. This disrupts cool air distribution and makes the AC work harder. Direct cool air from vents towards the areas you spend the most time in.
