British brand Vauxhall has lowered the price on its Corsa Electric YES Edition to make it now one of the cheapest electric vehicles in the UK.

The model has been reduced by £5,550 bringing its overall price down to £26,895 to help entice more people to switch to a zero emission vehicle.

Available from April 17, the vehicle is offered in shades of arctic white, carbon black, graphic grey or record red paint finish and is fitted with a fully electric 136PS powertrain.

The interior has a black roof, black exterior mirror housings and 16-inch black alloy wheels.

James Taylor, managing director at Vauxhall, said: “With the Corsa Electric YES Edition, we are bringing our successful ‘Yes, of Corsa’ campaign to the roads, offering an accessible new version of Corsa Electric with sporty GS styling.

“Vauxhall is committed to democratising access to electric vehicles, by offering an electric version of every car and van we offer by the end of this year and through initiatives like our electric streets of Britain campaign to improve the UK’s on-street residential charging infrastructure.”

The interior also boasts a 10-inch touchscreen that comes equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It also holds wireless smartphone integration, alongside a seven-inch digital instrument cluster and Vauxhall Connect.

The Corsa Electric YES Edition also holds a 136hp electric motor and 260nm of torque.

It also has a 50kWh battery, which can cover up to 221 miles on a single charge and can be recharged from zero to 80 percent in just 30 minutes from a 100kW rapid charger.

Additionally, the Corsa features automatic lights and wipers, climate control, LED headlights and daytime running lights, high beam assist, keyless entry and rear parking sensors.

The latest Vauxhall model has an array of driver-assistance tech such as a lane departure warning with lane keep assist, speed sign recognition and driver drowsiness alert.

There is also cruise control with a speed limiter and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Due to Vauxhall’s partnership with supermarket Tesco, new customers also benefit from one year’s free charging credit at stores across the country.

The cheaper price compares with other established UK electric vehicles which range between £29,000 and £40,000 for the well-known Tesla brand.

As of January 2024, there are one million vehicles on the roads and a further 600,000 plug-in hybrids. A further 315,000 battery-electric cars were registered in 2023 – 18 per cent more than in 2022.
